The UK home automation market is so hot now!

In 2011, the

home automation market was worth around £65 million at distributors selling prices (DSP), representing a 12% increase on the previous year (source BusinessWire).

The report predicts market growth at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 65 per cent, with installations expected to reach 5.38 million by 2015 and total revenues growing simultaneously at a CAGR of 32.8% from US$ 2.3 billion in 2010 to almost US$ 9.5 billion by 2015 due to a perfect confluence of market, regulatory, strategic and technology trends.

The growth of smart technology in the UK – not least sales of digital flat panel technologies, such as smart phones and smart TVs – combined with the rapid growth of digital audio and video streaming is driving the demand for whole house automation, where users control and manage household services such as heating, lighting, blinds, security, audio visual and data throughout the house by a single button; either in situ or remotely.

Apple iWatch is actually a home automation play, not a smartphone companion

Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smartwatch launched a couple of weeks ago as a fat, ugly, and expensive smartphone accessory. That’s not where Apple is going with iWatch.

Rather, Apple is looking to create a device that will allow you to control your music, your temperature, your security, your lighting, your energy use, your entertainment, and potentially much more, says Cantor Fitzgerald’s Brian White, the analyst who talked to Taiwanese and mainland

suppliers.

“As an Apple supplier, our contact offered insight into the “iWatch” and described this potential new device as much more than an extension of your iPhone but as a multi-purpose gateway in allowing consumers to control their home (i.e., heating/cooling, lights, audio, video, etc.),” White said today in a research note.

Apple iWatch’s home automation will require cooperation with current smart home manufactures who support IOS system. 3. How to set a Scene:

You can master the settings of software easily within 3 minutes. Even for those who know nothing about programming or internet he can operate Wulian smart home software successfully. One click to control and long press to setting a scene, timing or linkage, that’s all we need to do. So easy!

We take the “back home scene” as an example: when coming back home, we need to turn on lights, air conditioner, TV ,ventilation system and other devices in living room, close our curtain, switch on light in the kitchen, etc. But now we can put all these single function together to a scene. Just one click on the back home scene, all the devices you wanted are triggered and switch on automatically at the same time.
